There will be no change at our Bed and Breakfast in Burlington. Our condo may be up for sale but at this time we are renting it out again for the winter season of 2012.

For now though, we have sold one of our tent trailers. We will now be operating with only 2 campers so for returning guests get your bookings in early to lock up the camper you want for the dates you need.

Update on our B&B renovations. The Roseland suite was refurbished 2 winters ago. However the bedrooms were not touched. This winter in the off season we are workig on them. The one room will now have a double and a queen bed, sleeping 4 people. The second room will have a queen. The lounge has a comfortable double pull out sofa bed. The suite will now be able to accommodate up to 8 persons. Although the suite has a kitchenette we will still be providing a complementary breakfast, hot, or continental

Different but still busy summer season

This summer has been very busy, but it has been different. We started the season off fairly quietly and was thinking we were going to be affected by the world recession. However it didnt end up that way. In the past we have had many bookings, especially from Britain, and they are booked well in advance. As an example we have already taken a booking for the summer of 2012, well over a year ahead. However the summer of 2011 was mainly last minute bookings. The interesting thing is we have seen many people from different parts of the world that we havent had the pleasure before. Is this because they leave it to the last minute to book, or has the recession made people wait ...just in case....Anyways..the good thing is we have still had customers, which of course is why we are in this, to help pay for our daughter to be able to snowboard in her quest to make the Canadian Olympic team. Check out her website MarianneLeeson.com she keeps a blog of her activities and training schedule.

Some of our wonderful guests have travelled to see us from France, Germany, UK, USA, India, Antigua, China, Netherlands and Canada, just to name a few. It was nice to have guests from countries we havent hosted before, namely India and China. The strange thing is some years we get a large percentage from one specific country. This year the bulk of visits were from France and the USA. Our UK guests have been very slow though, we attribute that to a very poor exchange rate for them and the recession. Keeping our fingers crossed that things will get better for them soon.

Anyways our new ensuite bedroom at the B&B has been a big hit, being the first choice for many customers over any of the other rooms. Of course the Roseland suite is always a hit, especially with families with kids. This gives them the freedom of being home away from home and can be isolated in their private enclave.

The summer here this year has been extremely hot. The solar pool heater has been keeping the pool in the high 80's and at one time had to turn it off as the pool was becoming more like a hot tub. Talking of which, out hot tub has been out of commision for a couple of weeks. Both pumps needed repairing, but the cost is not the annoying thing here. I hate the fact that it was not available for our guests during our busy period, but to me it is unacceptable that a hot tub that is less than 2 years old needs the pumps repairing. The upside is that it has been so hot weatherwise that most people havent missed it...Anyways hopefully soon it will be back in operation especially with the cooler nights looming in the distance.

Our tent trailers have again been popular , but that season will be winding down soon. We purchased a new trailer this season, and hopefully will be selling one or maybe 2 of our older units. We dont like to keep them for more than 3 years as we want to have a quality product, and the newer the trailer the better. Trailertent.ca if anyone is interested in a pop up camper for the fall or next season.

Anyways....having a great season....happy travels and come and visit us in Burlington, Ontario...great location for visiting Niagara Falls or Toronto....stayBurlington.com for more info...

The new season

The spring is on its way and we are thinking about the up coming season. We have just sold our 2008 Rockwood Tent Trailer and replaced it with an identical 2011 model. We take possession early May just in time for the spring long weekend. At this time we still have some trailers available for the May 24 weekend. The summer months are starting to book up already so if you are thinking of going camping and thinking of renting a pop up trailer get your inquiry in earlier than later. Each year, especially when the school breaks have started, we have to turn business away due to that fact we have no trailers left.

Our B&B has undergone another upgrade this past winter with our soon to be finished en suite bedroom. The Spruce room that can sleep 3 now has an entrance from the bedroom and into the renovated bathroom.

Work to our basement suite with outside access to the swimming pool and hot tub was finished last spring. It contains a Kitchenette, full 4 piece bathroom , living room (with a sofa bed) and 2 bedrooms. In total we can accommodate 7 persons in the suite. Adjacent to the suite we have our newly refurbished bar (please bring your own beverages), a recreation room with a computer station (WiFi accessible throughout the B&B), a large 42 " plasma tv, books movies, games etc.

Our Self contained Condo in Collingwood still has plenty of rental time available for the summer. This is a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom 2nd floor unit that can accommodate a family of 6. Collingwood is situated in what is known as the 4 season cottage country, with a short drive to the Muskoka region and even closer drive to Wasaga Beach, a 14km freshwater beach, known to be the longest freshwater beach in the world. Collingwood itself can boast about the ski area of Blue Mountain that in the summer is a haven for mountain bikers. The village at Blue is worth a visit, owned in part by Intrawest and built in the same design as Whistler and Tremblent. Many shops restaurants and a waterpark are situated there to keep everyone happy. Blue Mountain itself is situated on the Niagara Escarpment, a Unesco heritage site. The escarpment is used by many for hiking, bird watching, rock climbing, mountain biking. It is many hundred kilometres long covering a distance from Niagara Falls, passing by Burlington and also Collingwood and ending at the tip of the Bruce Peninsula in Tobermoray, 800 km of trails. http://brucetrail.org/

If you would like to visit one of our places or have any questions give Lin a call at 1 905 336 5382. We started our business to help our daughter who is now on the Canadian National snowboard team. She competes and travels all over the world. We are very proud of her accomplishments so far but we know the best is yet to come. She is a new competitor on the world cup circuit and finding her feet at that level. I am always surprised at how many people want to visit our area, but really we have so much to offer at the west end of Lake Ontario. We are ideally positioned, being half way between Niagara Falls and Toronto, 2 very popular destinations. Niagara Falls is so famous around the world and being that we are only 40 minutes away visitors often visit during the day and then return another time to see the lights or fireworks at night. Also popular and well worth visiting whilst in the Niagara falls area is Niagara on the Lake. A quaint village situated where the thundering Niagara river enters into Lake Ontario. The town is very colourful during the summer months as the flowers are always spectacular. The village contains many shops and restaurants and also features The Shaw festival - a series of small plays at the local theatres. Wineries are plentiful in this area also and they all offer a tour of their establishment with the option to taste the wine they produce. The wine area stretches from Niagara to Stoney Creek, considered to be a micro climate protected by the Niagara escarpment. The Ontario wine is now famous winning many awards internationally, especially for the ice wine. The Niagara escarpment is a Unesco heritage site and used for many activities including hiking, cycling, viewing points, rock climbing and even skiing during the winter.

Travelling in the opposite direction to Niagara from our B&B is Toronto. There are so many things to visit in the clean and safe city. Most famous I am sure is the CN tower, until just recently the tallest freestanding building in the world. (that title now goes to Burj Khalifa in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.) We always recommend to our guests to take in the 360 degree restaurant atop the CN tower. Although you have to pay for an entree meal to cover the cost of the ride up the tower the cost is not too expensive providing you were going out to eat and were thinking of going up the tower anyways. This way you get a private elevator to the top and don't have to line up with the other tourists. We also recommend going up an hour before sunset. You get to see the city during daylight and can enjoy a drink whilst taking in the view and whilst waiting for your meal to arrive. The restaurant rotates and takes about 70 minutes to get back to where you started. At this point it is now dark, you may see a lovely sunset, and you can enjoy the meal whilst taking in Toronto at night.

Another recommendation is to see Toronto on the Hop on and off bus. Great way to see the sites and if you like what you see you can stay awhile and get on the next bus. I believe the passes last for 5 days so you can return another day if you want to see more of the city.

We have other Toronto suggestions also but there are so many I could be here all night...I must finish by talking about Burlington, which is a lovely town as well. We are situated at the west end of Lake Ontario, about 40 minutes from Toronto. This year it was voted by Moneysense as the 3rd best place in Canada to live. Downtown features many restaurants and shops and is situated by the lakefront. It is nestled just below the Niagara escarpment the Unesco heritage site. Come and visit and see how ideally situated we are. Many of our guests who have since emigrated here decided they liked it so much they stayed here. Its a great place to live and work but also a great place to visit.

AND of course a great place to stay at whilst visiting Burlington is at our B&B. We have the outdoor pool during the summer months, solar heated, and a 7 person hottub which is available all year long. We can offer a suite for up to 7 persons or a room from 1 to 3 persons. Breakfast is included and we also offer free WiFi, very important in today's world. Our entertainment room features a large screen TV, computer and a social bar. You do have to bring your own beverages though, but its a great place to mingle with your family or other guests.

About us: Steve and Lin emigrated from the UK and brought up 4 children in the Burlington area. The youngest Marianne is travelling around the world representing Canada in Snowboard racing. Your visit is helping Marianne achieve her dream of one day representing Canada in the Olympics.

Creekside B&B and guest suite. It has a new kitchenette and 4 piece bathroom, together with the 2 bdrooms. 7 people can sleep in the suite as the 2 interconnected bedrooms contain a queen, double and single bed. In the living room there is a double pull out sofa bed. There is direct outside access through patio doors to our swimming pool, and hot tub with a view from the patio and outside bar (bring your own beverages) to the Roseland Creek. A gas bbq is available for use also.We offer free wifi throught our B&B at Creekside. Families are particulary welcome as it would seem not many B&B's in Burlington accept children. Our bed and breakfast in Burlington Ontario is already receiving many bookings. It seems that this year is the year of weddings. The vast majority of our bookings are for larger groups attending weddings. However Burlington is a great spot for tourists as well as we are located between Niagara Falls and Toronto. To travel to both you can get the GO train or drive the short distance (Approx 40 minutes to both locations). Nearby we have multiple wineries each offering samples and tours. Burlington is also located on Lake Ontario and to the immediate north of our town we have the Niagara escarpment. This is a UNesco heritage area and is great for hiking, skiing, biking etc.
See our website for more information on Creekside B&B http://www.stayburlington.com/

Our condo in Collingwood is ideally placed for skiing and snowboarding at Blue Mountain. There is already loads of snow on the hills even though in the greater Toronto area we are looking at green grass. Its amazing the difference, we were in Collingwood and had difficulty getting around this past weekend. There is so much snow there at the moment. Anyways we still have a few weeks and weekends availble to rent if you want to visit the area for skiing or some other outdoor activity. The summer is equally nice, without the snow of course. Many things to do in the area as it is located on Georgian Bay (Lake Huron). Many touristy things to do as well as many activities. The Niagara escarpment also passes by this area and is a haven for mountain bikers, hikers and rock climbers. Wasaga beach (the longest freshwater beach in the world) is about 15 minutes journey by car.
See our website for more information on Collingwood Condo http://www.condoincollingwood.com/

We are also entering our 3rd full year of renting tent trailers. This is luxery camping as our trailers are fully equipped for comfortable camping. they sleep from 5 to 8 persons depending on which camper you chose. We expect another busy season as last year the 2 months when the kids are off school the trailers were out every day. If you want to ensure booking one please contact us early. See our website for more information
http://www.trailertent.ca/

A 3rd tent trailer

We have been very busy taking bookings for the prime summer months of July and August. So much so that we decided to get a 3rd tent trailer to add to the fleet. This trailer has also been snapped up for the same 2 months with some people on the waiting list. The new trailer is again a Rockwood Freedom, but this time we got the 1980 model. It has the same features as our other Rockwood but this one can sleep an additional 2 persons. It also has a couple of cooking stoves and an electric ceiling fan in addition.
If you are interested in May June or Septemeber we still have lots of choice available. However soon these dates will start going so book your dates now whilst they are still available.
Check our website for more info . You will also be able to find info on our B&B located in Burlington with a seperate guest suite that sleeps 7. Information can also be found about our condo which is located in Collingwood. It is a self contained (catering) unit that sleeps 6 comfortably. It is located near to Blue Mountain with an easy drive to Wasaga Beach, the longest freshwater beach in the world, that stretches for about 14 kilometres.
If you have any questions you may find the answer on our main website at http://www.holidayrentalscanada.ca or give us a call on the phone at Canada 905 336 5382. We are also thinking of adding a third but will update after our visit to the RV show.

The second trailer is our deluxe model. We have purchased a Jayco 1007. Its another 10ft box so is easilly towed, but once again we are offering the option of our full service delivery. This option is great for people who dont have hitches, lease vehicles, or just want to arrive on their campsite and have everything ready for their holiday.

The Jayco deluxe camper has hot and cold running water, with an outside shower head. The beds are larger with a King at one end and a double at the other. They even have memory foam mattresses which are thicker than the standard camper beds. The trailer also has an electrical ceiling fan, ideal for those warmer days and nights. Should you be camping in cooler times there is a gas furnace equipped also.

Once again we will supply most items that you require for camping, down to the can opener. For any guests visiting Canada from abroad or who have to fly to the area, we will also supply towels to avoid the extra luggage weight. Our optional delivery and setup is especially useful for guests not living in the area.

Our delivery area expanded during last season as per the many request we received. We will now deliver in an area of about 90 minutes. This encompasses Niagara and Lake Eire, Toronto and north west Kitchener region. Our website lists many camp sites with examples of where we will deliver to. If it is not listed please enquire.

Check out our website for more information. http://www.holidayrentalscanada.ca

Our Burlington Creekside B&B and Guest suite and our condo in Collingwood is also going well. The B&B is getting busier each year, as we are now quite established in the area and have been getting great reviews. We have many customers returning. New immigrants to the country or people in the process have come to us and we have been able to provide them with useful information and contacts. Many have returned to us during their process of landing and we have stayed incontact with all of them.
If you want to check out the reviews from previous guests you can find some on Tripadvisor and Holidaycheck at http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g154984-d1080458-Reviews-Creekside_B_B_and_Guest_Suite-Burlington_Ontario.html and also on http://www.holidaycheck.com/detail-reviews_Creekside+B+B+Sehr+familiaere+Pension-ch_hb-id_1078382.html?Hotel%2BReviews=Creekside%2BB%2BB&typ=1&originalID=1078382&originalSprache=de

Thanks.

Steve and Lin
905 336 5382 or cell 289 259 8110

New in 2008 a Rockwood Freedom Trailer

We have recently purchased a new 2008 Rockwood Freedom folding Tent trailer for hire.
